What is Stuck in a Snowbank Theatre?
Stuck in a Snowbank Theatre is based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
The company was established in 1995 and remains the only professional theatre company in the Northwest Territories. With a motto of "northern theatre by northerners for northerners", the mandate of Stuck in a Snowbank Theatre is four-fold:
- To develop the stories of the circumpolar Canadian north, whether oral tradition or prose history, into dynamic professional theatre scripts.
- To professionally present northern scripts for local, national and international audiences engaging actors and theatre professionals from the north and across Canada.
- To encourage and mentor the development of young people and northern communities in the power of live performance and the potential of their own stories.
- To produce productions that are available year round for education, entertainment and special events.
